Grace Your Home With Beautiful Art Made In America

Susan Fisher Regert began watercolor painting when her children were young, as an outlet from the two boys and 40 Suffolk sheep. "My mother, my uncle, and my grandparents all painted," she said. "I suppose it was inevitable, one of those things you know you are capable of, but you just haven't tried.  I pulled a couple stretch gates across the sunroom, put myself in play pen to paint while the children played in the rest of the house." The sheep stayed outside.  Somehow it wasn't enough.

My goal in designing a series of garden pieces," she said, "was to create fun, whimsy—something that would appeal to those just getting into their garden or interested in an artistic or meditative setting.  The idea is to enhance the garden in whatever way inspires the collector.  So my designs have to be either whimsical or structurally correct."

Regert first develops her ideas in her studio, then sends the designs to be cut out of 14 gauge steel.  Once the pieces are delivered to her shop, she supervises the welding process that turns her visions into sculpture.  The rusted patina, unique to each piece, is achieved by spraying vinegar and water on the steel then letting it sit overnight to corrode.
