Grace Your Home With Beautiful Art Made In America

These spirit figures or shamans are created by Susan Langley Banta.  Susan has been involved in the arts for years as both an artist and gallery owner.  She has focused exclusively on her work with copper for the last six years.  The shamans are unique, one of a kind pieces that begin as a flat sheet of copper.  Each shaman is hand formed and embellished with turquoise, polished stones, fossils, and beads. They are inspired by the ancient rock art petroglyphs of the Southwest.  These images depicting life and visions of the ancient tribes are found in the rock and canyon walls of many regions.  The coloration on these figures is obtained by the heat of the torch.  The finer details are hand etched and two coats of clear acrylic are applied to protect the finish.  Each shaman is created individually and derives it’s personality from the artist.

Susan was born in Chicago and has resided in New Mexico for 19 years.  She lives in Bosque Farms with her husband and creates these pieces in her workshop located at their home.  New Mexico’s culture and environment have certainly been inspirations for her art.  Her artwork is shown at galleries in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona.
